Born from a passion of calibration in 1998 by Stephen Oxborough (Technical Director, the facility has now become a leading authorities throughout many fields of calibration. AMECaL 's commitment to improving known procedures and its pioneering work in specialised fields such as Gloss Measurement make it an invaluable resource of technical expertise in the UK's calibration industry today.

Stephen started his career path prior to university as an electrical apprentice at the Neptune shipyard on the Tyne, just a stones throw from what is now AMECaL 's multi-laboratory facility today. Part of his training involved a period in the shipyard's calibration laboratory sparking of a lifelong interest in calibration.

AMECaL boasts a wide and varied spectrum of calibration services encompassing the vast array of measuring equipment employed in industry today. Such Industries as the Automotive, Pharmaceutical and Food industries.
